Scotts Valley’s Newest Installation ‘A Hundred Trees’.
Art in the Libraries showcases the remarkable talent of 11 California artists using trees in different media. The installation is available for viewing April 25, 2015 through July 25, 2015 at the Scotts Valley Library.
The first known depiction of a tree is called the Gua Tewet Tree of Life created on a cave wall 10,000 years ago in Borneo. Scholars tell us it may depict the ties that bind individuals, families, territories, or spirits to one another. Family tree, hanging tree, feeding tree, flowering tree or the tree of life, all have inspired artists around the world.
