Join the Friends of the Scotts Valley Library for our annual Spring Book Sale:

Times 10:00 am until 4:00 pm  (To enter the library before 11am use the patio door!)

We will be selling gently used books including fiction, non-fiction, lots of children's books, wonderful cookbooks, inspiring crafts and gardening books, a healthy selection of reference books, DVDs, CDs, audiobooks and so much more!

A great community event... don't miss it!!

New Art Installation - Color Me Abstract

Scotts Valley’s Newest Installation ‘Art in the Library’ Celebrates Color in Abstract Art with Newest Installation running through January 24, 2015

The public is invited to view the art and meet the artists at a reception:
Saturday November 8 / 2:00 to 4:00 pm 
At the Scotts Valley Library. 

The reception is hosted by local businesswoman Laureen Yungmeyer, and will have refreshments as well as music provided by Howie Kimel.

Hops & Harvest Event - this Saturday!

Come Meet the Artists - This Saturday, Aug. 23 2-4pm

You are invited to come meet the artists of our current art installation 'Painting the Golden State'.

Contemporary California artists from the Santa Cruz Oil Painters (SCOP) travelled extensively through the state, and their works reflect Lake Tahoe’s sapphire blue waters, the rugged Big Sur coast, cool green redwood forests and Yosemite’s granite splendor. Come to the library and celebrate our love of California’s diverse landscapes through this exhibit of original oil and pastel

Art in the Library - 'Painting the Golden State' Exhibit

Our beautiful golden state is the inspiration for the newest ‘Art in the Library’ program at the Scotts Valley Library. The ‘Painting the Golden State’ installation, running August 16 to November 1, features an exhibit of plein air and studio landscape paintings inspired by the state of California. 

The public is also invited to meet the artists on Saturday, August 23 from 2-4 p.m. at a reception at the Scotts Valley Library, 251 Kings Village Rd. in Scotts Valley. Refreshments will be served compliments of Laureen Yungmeyer at State Farm, and music will be provided by Grant Stoner.

California Creatures Art Show - Come Meet the Artists

California Creatures have crept into the Scotts Valley Library! On April 26 the Library’s ‘Art in the Library’ program revealled its newest installation that celebrates the extreme variety of creatures that live in California. The showing features the work of celebrated local artists, as well as the talents of students from the Santa Cruz Children’s School.  

The public is invited to meet the artists at our Artist Reception: 
  • Saturday, May 24, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. 
  • Scotts Valley Library
Refreshments will be served compliments of Laureen Yungmeyer of State Farm. Music will be provided by Howie Kimel.

Local artists in the spotlight for California Creatures include:

Additionally, Julia Blyumen will present selected pieces by young artists from the Santa Cruz Children’s School. The arts are a cornerstone of the school’s K-6 academic program.

California has a remarkable diversity of habitats and animal species, and many of us have a very emotional bond with animals and wildlife,. We invite everyone in the local community to take a look at how our local artists, including budding student artists, celebrate California’s creatures.

Stop by and pick up your summer reading, our annual summer book sale has something for the whole family, books for children, young adults, fiction, non-fiction, audio books, DVDs, a plethora of goodies!!

If you have books to donate to the library now is the time to spring clean your bookshelves and make room for more!!  Please bring gently used books to the Scotts Valley library.  No text books or user manuals.  Thank you!!

The Friends of the Scotts Valley Public Library is throwing itself a birthday party to celebrate all it has accomplished for the library in its first five years.

In honor of last Fall’s Hops & Harvest Festival – which raised significant funds for the Friends of the Scotts Valley Library – the birthday party will feature beer tasting as well as wine and local food fare as samples for selections for next Fall’s Hops & Harvest Festival. All current Friends of the Scotts Valley Library are invited, and are encouraged to bring a friend to learn more about the group.

“We are carrying a lot of momentum, and we are excited to celebrate all of our accomplishments, as well as to toast exciting projects ahead. Anyone who has touched this group in the past five years is invited to join us in this celebration, and I encourage them to bring guests as we widen our circle of friends of the library,”
said Derek Timm, president of FSVPL.

· Funded and furnished award-winning back patio area

· Launched successful Art in the Library program showcasing the work of more than 100 local artists

The Scotts Valley Library’s ‘Art in the Library’ program'snewest installation. ‘Flower Power’ will celebrate the powerful influence flowers have on our lives, and selected artwork once again showcases local artists.

The public is invited to meet the artists on Saturday, February 1, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at a reception at the Scotts Valley Library,  251 Kings Village Rd. in Scotts Valley.  Refreshments will be served, and music will be provided by jRjRauche, a multi-instrumentalist with special focus on Chapman Stick, Guitar and Handpan.
